REPORT OF NCC (ARMY) 2020

  1. NCC Cadets participated in the Road Safety Awareness Programme on January 17, 2020.
  2.  The NCC Army Cadets participated in Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2020.
  3.   Voter Awareness Programme was organized on February 7, 2020.
  4. As per the instructions of DGHE Haryana, the NCC Army Unit started a Shramdan Abhiyan in the college campus on February 19-28, 2020. Cadets created a garden in the college, near the Commerce Block.
  5. NCC Cadets organized a Hand-wash Awareness Programme on Covid-19 on March 18, 2020.
  6. NCC Army Cadets participated in Food Distribution Programme for migrant labour at Old Faridabad Bus Stand, on April 6, 2020 
  7. The NCC Army Cadets attended CATC at Ghosgarh, Haryana from January 5-14, 2020.
  8. The NCC Army Cadets attended TSC – Firing Group Trials at Bhiwani (Haryana) from March 6-15, 2020.

BRIEF REPORT OF THE WORKS AND ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY NSS UNIT, YOUTH RED CROSS & RED RIBBON CLUB OF GOVT. COLLEGE  FARIDABAD SESSION 2019-20


NSS unit of Govt. College Faridabad has been working with the motto Not Me But You and as per the principles laid down for the working of the organisation.   Dr. Rakesh Pathak and  Miss Amrita Shree  have been appointed as the Programme Officers NSS unit 1 &2 of the College. The two units consist of more than 200 volunteers, both boys and girls who are dutiful and dedicated to their work. With the motto welfare for mankind, the organization has always been doing different kinds of works, activities and organise programmes to create awareness among the people of the society.  Highlights of some of the major activities organised by NSS units of the college during the session 2019-20 are :   

  • Volunteers of NSS started awareness program by organising NukkadNatak (street plays) in different public places of Faridabad like parks, railway station, bus stand etc. to motivate the common people not to cast their votes by being influenced by contestants and their offerings or election sops during the month of May 2019. 
  • Four volunteers of NSS unit 1 of the college participated in “Youth Leadership Training Camp” in Dalhousie organised by MDU Rohtak in the month of June 2019. 
  • Almost 50 volunteers participated in the Rehearsal on 20 June  for Yoga Day celebration  in the Sports Complex Faridabad. 
  • “International Yoga Day” was celebrated on 21 June 2019 in the Sports Campus Sector 12 Faridabad. Almost 50 NSS volunteers participated in the event. 
  • Four volunteers participated in the International Yoga Day celebration on 21 June   held in Rohtak in which honourable Amit Shah Cabinet Minister Govt. of India was the Chief Guest and honourable Chief Minister of Haryana was also present. .  
  • 5 day workshop on “Say No to Plastic Bags and Save Earth” was initiated both by NSS and NCC units of the college in the month of July in which rallies etc. were organised in and outside college campus in order to motivate the people not to use plastic as it is a danger for our health and so for our existence. 
  • NSS unit of the college celebrated “Educational  and Vocational Guidance Week”  in the college and a program sponsored by District Employment Office  was organized.
  • On 25 July 2019 in which many scholars from different fields delivered lectures on career prospects available in present scenario for students. Almost 200 students from various streams attended the lectures and got their query answered. Stage was conducted by Dr. Rakesh Pathak, who informed the students about curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities organized in the college throughout the year. 
  • NSS unit in collaboration with Youth Red Cross started Mass Tree Plantation Drive (one day camp) in the college on 27 July 2019. Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Ranbir Gulia, NSS Coordinator National Service Scheme MDU Rohtak. Dr.Gulia inspired the  volunteers for planting more and more trees to conserve nature and its resources.
  • National Debate Competition was organised by the ‘Amar Ujala’ newspaper in the college with the help of NSS unit in the month of July.
  • NSS in collaboration with YRC unit of the college started Water Conservation Campaign (Jal Shakit Abhiyan) in the college on 1 August 2019. Many teachers and students expressed their views on how to conserve water and importance of water conservation drive for future generation. Dr. Rakesh Pathak, Program Officer NSS and Counselor YRC, administered the oath for saving every drop of water to save the lives of people and survival of nature. During the event many competitions like poster making, slogan writing, and declamation were also organized. A rally was flagged off to aware the people for water conservation and its dire need toady.
  • On 16 September 2019, NSS unit organised Blood Donation Camp in the college on the occasion of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s  B’day  in which almost 100 units of blood was collected. Honourable Chief Guest Shri Kishan Pal, Minister of State (Govt. of India), and the dignitaries present in the camp highly praised Principal  and NSS Program Officer  Dr. Rakesh Pathak for the commendable work as it is for saving the life of the people.
  • Polythene Mukt Abhiyan” was started by NSS unit of the college on 26 September 2019. Many activities including speech, oath taking ceremony, Rally with the help of YRC and NCC units were organised to motivate the students and the people not to use polythene bags as it is hazardous for our environment.
  • On 30 September 2019 an assembly and a rally was organised on plastic waste   management.
  • On 1st October 2019 one day camp was organised   on cleanliness and aware people not to use plastic bags.
  • On 2 October on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi a cleanliness program  and rally was organised outside the college. Students were distributed jute bags with the help of Deeksha Foundation in order to motivate them not to use plastic bags.
  • One volunteer of NSS unit 1 participated in YLTC camp held at Manali organised by MDU Rohtak.
  • On 23 October 2019 one day Sensitization Program on “Inter Generation Bonding” under the theme “Ageing with Dignity’ was organised with the help of District Legal Services Authority Faridabad.
  • On 31 October 2018, ‘National Unity Day’ was celebrated  on the birth anniversary of Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel in which almost 70 NSS volunteers along with Program Officer Dr. Rakesh Pathak participated in “Run for Unity” held organised in Sports Complex Faridabad.
  • “Vigilance Awareness Week” was celebrated in the college from 28 October to 2 November 2019 in which many programs, activities, competitions and prize distribution function were organised in association with NHPC Faridabad and Syndicate Bank Sector 16 Branch Faridabad.
  • On 26 November “Constitution Day” was celebrated in the college in which Preamble was read out and an assembly was organised in the college.
  • On 2 December 2019 “World Aids Day” was celebrated in the college.  On 3 December “World Handicap Day” was celebrated by NSS unit of the college.
  • On 17 January 2020 “Road Safety Awareness Program” was organised in association with Road Safety Foundation Faridabad. 

RED RIBBON CLUB & YOUTH RED CROSS organized a workshop on HIV/AIDS, in association with BK hospital Faridabad on 28 January 2020. A number of activities were organised which include essay writing, declamation, poster making, slogan writing competitions. A cartoon film teachaids was shown to NSS volunteers in order to remove myths and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS from their minds. Counsellors from BK Hospital Faridabad delivered lectures on the topic of HIV/AIDS.

  • On 7 February 2020 a program was organised to create awareness among the students (18 years and above) to cast their votes during the elections. SDM Faridabad was the Chief  Guest of the occasion. 
  • As per the instructions of DGHE Haryana Panchkula, NSS unit of the college started “Shramdaan Abhiyan” from 19 February 2020 in the college. It continued for 10 days in which different areas were selected for cleaning. Volunteers also created a garden in the college campus. 
  • 7 days NSS camp was organised from 11 to 17 March 2020 in the village Chandawali under the guidance of Principal. Hundred volunteers along with Program Officer Dr. Rakesh Pathak and Miss Amrita Shree did a lot of work during the camp. All of them participated in First Aid and Home Nursing Training given by the trainer from Dist. Red Cross Society Faridabad. Tree plantation, cleanliness drive, moral education competitions and cultural activities were performed during different days of the camp. However the special camp could not be completed and it was postponed as per the instructions of the Department of Higher Education Haryana due to COVID 19 pandemic.  Further guidelines are still awaited for the completion of the camp. 
  • On 6 April 2020, NSS volunteers participated in Food Distribution Program for migrant labourers at village Tilpat. 
  • On 8 June 2020 masks, sanitizers, food items, sanitary pads, gloves, napkins, cotton clothes etc. were distributed to the poor and needy with the help of YRC unit of the college.
  • On 14 June immunity booster and food supplements and masks were distributed to the poor in the village Gauncchi Faridabad. 
  • Dr. Rakesh Pathak was awarded on 15 August  2019  by Dist. Administration Palwal  for his valuable  contribution in the field of  social works  done under NSS, YRC and Swachch Bharat Mission. 
  • Sanjay, NSS volunteer of NSS unit 1, was selected as Best Volunteer (3rd position) by MDU Rohtak and got 3000 Rs. Cash prize and certificate.
  • Sanjay was also selected as Best Intern in SBSI 2019 (2rd position) by MDU Rohtak and got 4000 Rs. Cash prize and certificate.
  • Irshad and Kuldeep, NSS Volunteers from NSS unit 1, were selected in Pre- RD Parade Camp held in Chitkara university Rajpura Punjab from 15 to 24 November 2019. 

  • Irshad, was selected and participated in  RD Parade held in New Delhi from January 1-31, 2020.  

ACTIVITIES OF THE NSS COVID-19 UNIT DURING THE CORONA LOCKDOWN PERIOD MARCH-JUNE 2020

A separate unit of NSS was formed to spread awareness about the Covid-19 pandemic. It was named NSS Covid-19 Unit. The unit did excellent work in the villages through holding awareness camps, distribution of masks, sanitizers and food.

The unit also looked after the migrant labour camped in the college. The unit and its volunteers ensured proper sanitation, timely supply of fresh food. The unit also ensured timely information and proper transportation to the Railway station and Bus departure venues.

The NSS Covid-19 Unit established linkages with the three NGOs of the area i.e. Sonu Nav Chetna Foundation, Sambharye Foundation and Jazba Foundation to meet the needs of the poorest of the poor, especially the daily wage labour. The unit devoted 144 hours of voluntary work towards sanitation drives in different colonies and localities of Faridabad.

A month-wise report of the activities of the unit is as follows:

March 2020

  1. 2000 three-ply masks and 800 packets of food were distributed to the migrant  labour passing through Faridabad on March 27 and March 30, 2020.

April 2020

  1. Sonu Nav Chetna Foundation donated 4 large dustbins to  the college on April 4, 2020, to aid in its various cleanliness drives. The foundation also donated 7 Solar   Street Lights to the college on April 10, 2020.
  2.  On April 18, 2020, the Union Minister hon’ble Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the unit for its exemplary work towards 144 hours of voluntary work in sanitizing the different localities and the police post. Sarpanch of Village Nacholi, Sh. Sudhir Nagar, the Senior Mayor Sh. Devendra Chaudhary and Sarpanchs of Village Kheri and Fattupur were also present on this occasion.
  3. The college unit donated 300 face shields to B.K. Hospital Faridabad. The Chief Medical Officer Dr. Krishan Kumar was present on this occasion, organized in collaboration with Sonu Nav Chetna Foundation, Faridabad.
  4. The college donated 120 face masks and 520 face shields to Government Hospital Palwal and 220 face shields to District Officer Nuh (Mewat) in collaboration with Sonu Nav Chetna Foundation, Faridabad 
  5. On April 20, 2020.Around 1200 migrant labour was distributed masks and fruits by the unit on April 28, 2020. The Principal and the unit officials and volunteers won high praise and congratulations from the Union Minister hon’ble Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar.

May 2020

  1. 15 members of the college Group-D staff were distributed Ration kits by the unit on   May 5, 2020.
  2. The unit met the State Cabinet Minister Sh. Mool Chand Sharma and received 2000 three-ply masks for distribution. The unit volunteers distributed these masks among the needy and 85 poor families were helped with Ration kits on May 13, 2020.
  3. 92 poor families were helped out with Ration kits and face masks on May 22, 2020. A special awareness drive was also organized on this occasion.

June 2020  

  1. The NSS Covid-19 unit planted 110 saplings in the college on occasion of World   Environment Day on June 5, 2020.
  2.  Concurrently, the unit planted 630 saplings in the city of Faridabad on June 10, 2020.
  3.  The unit distributed Ration kits of one month each to 15 families of the college Group D staff on June 17, 2020.
  4. The unit distributed masks and soaps in different villages of Faridabad. 1200 Re-usable Khadi masks and 500 soaps were distributed in village Nacholi, while1000 Re-usable Khadi masks were distributed in main market Ballabgarh.On June 19, 2020, the NSS Covid-19 unit distributed 800 Re-usable Khadi masks and 300 soaps to villagers of Fattupur; 500 Re-usable Khadi masks and 200 soaps to villagers of Sadpura, and 200 Re-usable Khadi masks in sector 16 market Faridabad. Sh. Gopal Sharma, the district BJP chief, met the NSS Covid-19 unit and appreciated the college initiative. He also donated 1000 Re-usable Khadi masks to the unit for distribution to the needy.
  5. 1000 Re-usable Khadi masks and 200 soaps were distributed in the village Kanvra on June 20, 2020.
