With the vision of fostering environmental consciousness and promoting sustainable living, Pt. JLN Government College, Faridabad, organized a Tree Plantation Drive on 30 July 2026. The programme aimed to encourage students to become responsible environmental stewards by actively participating in the preservation and enhancement of green spaces.
The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Ritika Gupta, Principal, who inaugurated the plantation drive and inspired the gathering with her motivating address. Emphasizing the indispensable role of trees in sustaining life on Earth, she urged every student to plant, nurture, and protect trees as both a social responsibility and a moral obligation. She highlighted that meaningful environmental conservation begins with individual commitment and gains strength through collective action.
The programme was convened by Lieutenant (Dr.) Rajender Kumar, ANO (Army Wing) and Convener of the Tree Plantation Drive. In his address, he encouraged students to become active contributors to environmental sustainability. He explained that tree plantation is one of the most effective measures to combat climate change, reduce pollution, conserve biodiversity, and ensure a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come. He also administered a pledge to the participants to protect and preserve the environment.
The NCC cadets, along with students from various departments, enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive. Working together with dedication and discipline, they planted a variety of saplings across the college campus and pledged to nurture them, reinforcing the message that planting a tree is only the first step towards environmental conservation.
Adding further value to the programme, Dr. Shalini Malhotra, Head of the Eco Club, motivated students to actively participate in eco-friendly initiatives throughout the year. She encouraged them to adopt environmentally responsible habits and become ambassadors of sustainability within society.
The Head of the Women Cell, Dr. Charu Midha encouraged high numbers of female students and staff to actively dig, plant and water saplings. She also spread awareness among students about importance of green plants and its importance in our nutrition also.
The Head of the Department of Botany, Mrs. Priyanka Parashar, enlightened the participants about the ecological and economic significance of different plant species. She explained how plants maintain ecological balance, support biodiversity, improve air quality, conserve soil, and contribute significantly to the well-being of humanity and the planet.
The NSS In-charge, Dr. Jorawar Singh, played a vital role in coordinating the event. He facilitated the procurement of saplings, supervised the plantation process, and guided students in adopting proper planting techniques to ensure the healthy growth and survival of the saplings.
The programme also served as a platform to spread awareness about conserving natural resources, maintaining ecological balance, reducing pollution, and encouraging community participation in environmental protection.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Lieutenant (Dr.) Rajender Kumar, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, staff, and students for their wholehearted participation and support. The programme ended with a collective pledge to continue working towards environmental conservation and responsible citizenship, leaving the participants inspired to contribute positively to a greener future.
